  • Abstract: cular disorders represent a heterogeneous group of conditions, mostly of genetic origin, leading to motor deficits of variable intensity and for which much progress has been accomplished at the clinical level, notably in terms of management and also at a more fundamental level as far as the pathogenesis of these diseases is concerned. After decades of ignorance and rejection, these conditions are now recognised and treated earlier although most interventions are still confined at a supportive level. They undoubtedly benefit from the existing networks of specialised clinicians as well as a growing standardization of care. In this context, psychological aspects are critical and may differ from one disease to another thus necessitating a customized approach of each patient.
